i think that having the Wii capable of playing the turbo cds was the
original plan. you would still have needed to download something for
each game to be played as they weren't about to just release their
emulator. i think hudson/ nintendo (the latter of whom is doing most
of the technical work on this) were worried about the size of the
downloads. the other problem of course is people finding the games.
aside from tzd, ncs and telegames, i know of no other place to get
sealed games...not even in japan.
the whole Wii VC thing is great but it came a little late for me. with
my dreamcast covering all my NES, SMS and NeoGeo CD games and my xbox
covering almost everything else, the VC gets only some use from me. i
am hoping nintendo increases the memory of the wii somehow because it's
a great way to build a library of classics- of the games that you will
always want to have. should this trend of bringing great old games
continue, we may indeed see sapphire, dracula x and lots more goodies
come out...maybe even in north america as well.
as for your turbo cd no longer spinning, bob frasure at retro games
used to be the guy who fixed these kinds of things but he probably
stoped answering his phone at the turn of the milennium. it wouldn't
be a bad idea to just get another unit. there are still lots out there
in good shape and not that pricey.
and magic engine...i don't use it all that much but can it be that sh2
still doesn't work properly? after all these years and updates? i'll
have to give it a spin today and check that one out.
doug, i totally agree. the Wii is a gas. i won't cry over the lack of
hi-def as long as it stays fun. the 360 is awesome too. years ago,
there was a great guy on this list named ron kiser whom i think we lost
after the old joyce server went down. after the Dreamcast went down,
he said he 'd be sitting out this generation (xb/gcn/ps2) to catch up
on his old games which was exactly how i felt. i finally came out of
it and this generation seems to have lots of great stuff for us all.
