Deep Blue. Ridiculed by many. Deep Blue is not half as bad as people make it out to be. Deep Blue is a shooter that takes place deep in the ocean. Your goal is to blast your way through the onslaught of mutant schools of fish. Deep Blue is a pretty hard game, but not that hard. By default, your A.N.G.E.L. submarine is pretty slow to maneuver and getting hit is inevitable. Learning the enemies` patterns is key. Speed and weapon powerups are availble often enough, but if you get hit once you lose all your powerups. You only have one life but luckily it takes many hits to die. Graphics in Deep Blue are downright beautiful for a 1989 release-- some of the fish are amazing to look at. The music is very fitting (with one exception) with a definite aquatic theme, sound FX complement the game nicely. The only exception is the music on the third level which sounds like it could`ve come from an NES game. Interestingly, the game is presented in a widescreen 16:9 aspect. Recommended to shooter fans who love a challenge.
