Dungeon Explorer II is a mind blowing sequel to the great adventure/RPG Dungeon Explorer. This game has improvements throughout, and is an excellent game. Cinemas are excellent with great voice acting, and the storyline progresses and immerses the gamer in the world of Oddessia. The addition of several more character types is welcome, and many are very cool. The game supports 1 to 5-players and is truly great when you can get 4 of your friends together to play. A must hvae for any Turbo library.
I am not a big fan of this genre, Gauntlet style game play. But, this game is just incredible. The gameplay is a bit smoother than the first game. The animation is alittle better. The characters and world a bit more detailed. But, what pushes this game above and beyond are by far the fantastic cut scenes. This game has some of the best Cinematics on the Duo (atleast with its US releases). I think it was a tad easy but the quest is fairly long. This is everything you love about Dungeons Explorer I and more. Great!
So glad I finally got this. This was the game I waited the longest to play- being a fan of the original. My girl just bought it for me for our anniversary (crazy expensive- at least the english version) and it's an instant favorite. If you're a big fan of the original and of the turbo/pc-engine in general then I'd say it's worth that hefty price. Who doesn't want to hand Natas a good old beating again?
One of the best PC Engine games ever! If you like Zelda, Gauntlet, or Ys, this is a must play! Few sequels shine so well as this one!
Wow, I finally paid the hefty price for the US version of this game! The cinemas are fantastic and I thought the voice acting was pretty good. This is quite a well presented game although the in game graphics are nothing to write home about; its worth mentioning many reviewers berated this game as lazy because it looked almost identical to the first, released quite a few years earlier. The game is fun though, with a few minor diversions from the main quest, the game is a little lengthier than the first, although not huge by any stretch. Dungeon Explorer II has some quiet nice CD tunes as well. The game isn't very challenging, but I suppose there is a little bit of replay value due to the large amount of characters to play with and choose. I feel there is no problem in paying a high price for a game like this: if you love it, treasure it. If not, sell it on eBay. I did and got £125 for it, which I will use to invest in other great and rare Duo games no doubt. Not a bad game.
