Best Shooter ever made. Totally addictive. Not the best graphics or even sound but a total no brainer shooter of the first class. The reason I bought another engine... If you buy one shooter this is the one to start with. Its 2010 and this is still the best shooter ever made! Update: 24/08/05 Yep still the best game ever made.....

That is definitely the best shooter on the engine!!! No matter what graphics are cooler, this title rocks!

A good game with some very impressive-looking weaponry, but the levels last too long (though that's practically a Compile trademark) and is somewhat boring until the action picks up in stage three or so.

I agree with ghegs, great game but the nostalgia factor of those who played it back then (when it was the best thing ever made after pizza)makes this great title a tad over-rated...
Cheat Codes (10)
GUNHED
30 Continues At the title screen hold SELECT, press RUN. Wait until "AREA 1" is on the screen.
Unlimited Continues Do above, then when game is over you'll have 30 continues. Instead of pressing RUN right away, press SELECTx2. Now press SELECT and then RUN, hold both down until game starts. Even though continues will always = 30, it's unlimited!
16 Lives + 36 Bombs At triangular boss at end of level 1, avoid the boss without shooting him. It will eventually get bored and leave. You will be awarded 16 live, 36 bombs and double your current score. (this also works the second time that you encounter this boss during the end, and also works with other odd-level number bosses (3, 5 ...)
Sound Test During opening sequence hold SELECT and alternately press L,R quickly. SOUND 01 will appear.
Debug Mode From sound test (above) press I,II then press SELECT until a graphic appears (press SELECT at a medium rate). CODE EFFECT 00-09 Level Select
77 press Up, Down before exiting to get invincibility
83 Half game where you can have many satellites
Mode Select At the title screen hold SELECT while alternately hitting I,II [*]. Repeat until pressing SELECT goes through 4 difficulty levels. To exit hold RUN, press SELECT. ([*] or with the Turbo switches ON, press I and II)
Area-0 & 30 continues Enter the Sound Test. Press I,II, and then SELECT at least 21 times. Then press and hold both SELECT & RUN until the game starts.
See Ending At the title screen Hold Right, and press Run as fast as you can.
