Mugen Senshi Valis

Just got this and it\'s the first Valis game I\'ve played- and from what I\'ve read it\'s the weakest of the bunch. That said- I enjoy it and am looking forward to the other three. Strives for a slight mix of Castlevania and Strider mechanics. Boards seem tough at first but become easy after a few play-throughs. I\'ve read that the cutscenes are shit- but they\'re really not that bad. Music is there and by and large forgettable. Graphics are decent but parallex would have made it much better.

In my opinion this is the best of the Valis Series. The anime cutscenes are decent and the music are enjoyable and fits the game. The controls are a little shakey and not so fluid, and some of the stages, like the lava stage ca be difficult but, overall its a pretty good platformer.

Some said the cut-scenes are bad because they are not (almost) FULL screen as Valis III, but like Valis IV they actually tryed to include some animation here (instead of mouth moving stills). The soundtrack is excellent and it doesn\'t get ruined by ugly FM sound effects (instead you get excellent digitized PCM explosions). Graphics from stage 3 becomes fantastic IMHO (excellent use of PC-Engine\'s color palette)can\'t understand why the first two stages aren\'t that good(??). It would seem most people never passed those, that\'s why all the criticism...
