Riot Zone is a side scrolling action/fighting game much in the same vein as Final Fight in the arcade. This game falls well short of the standard set by games like Final Fight. The characters and story-line seem uninspired, and the game suffers from extreme repetition. Only for fans of the genre and collectors. 2-player mode enhances game play some what, but not enough to make this a true winning title.

game is fun only if you play it for 10min or less.... way too repetitive and the sound is horrid... it sounds like your beating on a garbage can when u slam people.... too much like streets of rage, and not even the good parts of it....

Too easy. I played it, finished it and return it all in the same day.

I have to give this game at least a little luv. I remember when this game was about to be released and being excited to see the TG16 answer to Final Fight and Streets of Rage. After I played it I was dissapointed. Although not as good as those games I still enjoyed it because this is my type of game. The thing is, it could of been great. It seems like it was rushed a bit by Hudson to get it out there in order to compete with those other games at the time. With it being a SCD game I thought it was gonna be a killer of a fighting game and the Graphics would be awsome too, but they weren\\\'t. (especially when you compare it to the Sega CD Final Fight that was released around the same time)But all in all I still enjoy this game and still love playing it.(love trying to see if I can beat it without using continues)Like what the first reviewer said, If your a fan of this genre and are a big Final Fight/Streets of Rage fanatic like me,(Hell I even like Brawl Brothers SNES) you should like this one!

Oh dear, glad I only paid a few pounds for this (the going price in 2008). Nice big sprites, tragic animation, and fun for all of 30 mins. Jesus this game is repetative: even in it's genre! WEapons would have been nice. Shame there aren't any decent side-scrolling beaters on the PC Engine...

I'm with Sam a little on this one. I can see how people may say it's repetative but if your a fan of the genre you will like it. Not as good as the games it's trying to emulate (FF SOR) but still a decent beat em up! The graphics are sort of poor in some spots and actual pretty good in some parts of the game. (Elavator stage looks cool)I too find it fun and challenging trying to beat it on the higher difficulty level without using a single continue. So decent game in my book. Could of been a lot better though. To bad they didn't make a sequal to redeem themsellves.
