Shadow of the Beast is one of those games that works better as a graphical demo than an actual game. I was impressed with the sprites and the multiple scrolling backgrounds, but the game play gets thin quick. There\'s no save/continue feature but luckily there\'s a cheat for 99 lives. It\'s worth a play-through, but you probably won\'t come back to it any time soon after that.
Beautiful music- lush graphics- but crappy game. For instance- there's huge graphical variety on what is basically the same enemy- some thing that jumps out that you beat with one punch- and there's like hundreds of them of all shapes and sizes. If the gameplay was given as much attention as everything else here then this would've been a masterpiece. Instead it's a tedious excerise in finding the keys, finding the gun, find this, find that- and it's brutally tough if you're not patient and it just isn't much fun.
Shadow of the Beast is a classic. This is my favorite version. Great graphics, VERY well done music. Some people say it\\\'s too hard and too short, it is. Definitely not for beginners, and not for everyone.
