R-Type

This is a classic shooter that any shooting fan should not be without. This translation of an arcade classic is faithful to a fault. The challenge of the game is almost overwhelming to a lot of gamers, but if you want a real challenge this is the game for you.

Monstrous classic. My favorite shooter of all time and the best conversion of it at the time. I threw many a quarter into this back in the day- hard as hell.

As a collector, it was one game I just had to have. Fantastic that this is all on one HU-Card, easily the best conversion on home console, for the time: this was the game that shifted Engines in Japan. Shocking artwork on US edition, which is standard for the era and is still true to a lesser extent, even now. This game is hailed as an all time classic and I just dont get it and never have!? I love shooters but seem to struggle to fully appreciate Irem's input into the shooter genre. Ive played most R-Type games in the series-I WANT to like them- but just dont get that big a kick from them. It has great bosses, fantastic visuals, excellent weapons and tactical play, bolt hard gameplay... But it just doesnt entrall me as a game for some reason. Clearly, there's something wrong with me, because everyone else seems to go nuts for it.
