Loin d'être aussi top que le 1, pouet pouet
Nice sidescrolling shooter - sequel to the superior vertically scrolling Spriggan PCE cd game...
A sequel in name only to Spriggan as the gameplay, graphics, and just about everything are different from it. I actually slightly prefer this one, though I wish I wouldn't have a rechargable shield to save me from sticky situations over and over again. One hit = death, that's the way it should be. Loads of weapons with limited ammunition to use, so the game feels a bit like the PSX game Einhander in that aspect. A very story-driven game with plenty of cinematics and even conversations in-game, but luckily a "story off" -option was included which streamlines the game a great deal, making it feel like a normal shmup. Hopefully someone will release a story translation one day.
What happens when a team of game designers love Gundam, Assault Suit Leynos and Gates of Thunder? Spriggan Mark II that's what happens!
Fighting with the "thunder brothers" for the title of Best Soundtrack ever created, and mixing up serious Mech warfare (a la Gundam) with sidescrolling shooting, this game serves also as a testament of PC-Engine's power (godzillion layers of parallax blazing through at 60FPS anyone?)
Great game indeed...
